(Written by Pamela) I met Ron Dennis at Know How Now - a 'Technical Support Service' Fair and Forum, organised by Engineers Without Borders UK on November 6th 2009. We discussed existing collaboration between his students (at Imperial College and City University) and grass roots projects. More about this work at http://www.developingtechnologies.org/

Subsequently I introduced  Ron and Femi Longe and we met at City University to discuss Nigeria, recyling plastics and other shared interests. In December, soon after Marcus Simmons came back from Nigeria I took him along to meet Ron. Marcus gave Ron an update about Attachab and also gave him samples of local plastics that might be used in a recyling project. I also introduced Ron to John Dada through email.

Later Ron contacted us about putting in a proposal to Comic Relief to do field testing of equipment that his students had designed, not just a testing of the equipment, but a practical test of the idea that the equipment could be used in a SME (Small/Medium Enterprise) to recyle plastics as floor tiles. John provided lots of detailed local information to Ron and the application  got through the initial screening. Follow up interview was scheduled for November 21st and final decision due end of January 2011.
