In Dadamac when we think of digital technologies we are very practical - driven by our need to do things.
We tend to think about them in three main categories:
- hardware and software
- implementation practicalities (like power supplies, staff, training, financial sustainability, etc)
- socio-technical issues (the users - present and potential - and the personal and social issues surrounding use of digital technologies)
Most of our information related to the above is currently scattered around the Internet (November 21st 2010). It will take time to gather it here. (When we set up www.dadamac.net we emphasised presenting information about John's service delivery in Nigeria and reports on our UK-Nigeria weekly meeings.)
As a first step in writing the technology section I will simply point to some links with relevant information (without explaining the relevance):
- Zittnet - http://www.dadamac.net/projects/business-sme-livelihoods/zittnet-rural-c...
- Some posts on dadamac's posterous - later I will try to select appropraite posts, giving the reasons why - http://dadamac.posterous.com/
I plan to write new pages covering the present situation as well as things we have learned over the past ten years - and how we have learned them - but that is a non-trivial task. Meanwhile, if you have any particular questions please contact me directly pamela.mclean@dadamac.net.
