January 10th 2015 - Starting the New Year with Dadamac.

The seeds of this event were sown back in 2002 when two community projects in different parts of Nigeria linked up through occasional access to the Internet and a shared connection with a contact in London.

The intervening years have given us tantalising glimpses of what the future might bring, if the world wide web becomes genuinely world-wide.

Imagine being part of a completely interconnected global society, where people from different cultures and perspectives can rub minds, and collaborate on practical problem-solving, and where we can combine our social, intellectual and financial resources.

In Dadamac we've sampled many elements of this in our collaborations between London and various locations in sub-Saharan Africa.

We invite you to enjoy some unfolding stories, to explore various themes, and to consider the practical and theoretical implications, on a personal, local or global level.

We expect a wide variety of participants, some with on-the-ground Africa-related interests, others with more of an "overview" interest in the disruptive nature of the Internet and patterns of change. It will be up to individuals to decide:

If they simply want to learn from the experiences of others.

If the patterns that emerge have any relevance to their own situations.

If they want to stay on afterwards to follow-up some of the ideas and suggestions.

The approach of the day will be a combination of practical examples, emerging patterns and deeper analysis. It will be a mixture of information "from the front", and participation drawing from the "wisdom in the room".

Date  - Saturday January 10th 2015

Place - Impact Hub Westminster 1st floor, New Zealand House, 80 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4TE

Time - main event - 10.30 - 3.30.

After event - When the formal programme ends there will be a "very long tea break", giving opportunities to stay on, to reflect on the day, discuss it with others, and, if appropriate, explore practical next steps.

John Dada of Fantsuam Foundation (FF) plans to join us for the event and will happily answer questions and enter into discussions about integrated community development and the realities on the ground in North Central Nigeria.

Pamela McLean and Nikki Fishman of Dadamac Connect are organising the event on behalf of Dadamac Foundation. They will also be around afterwards.

The venue is being generously provided by Impact Hub Westminster.

News of other participants and sponsors will be shared later.
