Dadamac meetups and collaboration communities

Dadamac is breaking out from its viirtual home in the cloud and setting up some face-to face meetings in London. Dadamac face-to-face We have set up a Dadamac meetup group. This means we'll be able to explore some of our ideas and concerns face to face with people - and perhaps find people who want to take practical actions with us as well. Collaboration and Dadamac Dadamac is based on collaboration. Until now our collaboration has been online, mostly UK-Nigeria but elsewhere too. Now we're starting to build opportunites for face-to-face collaboration here in the UK. At Dadamac UK we...

Preparing for the journey

Hi David I love your idea of a journey - and I confess to a twinge of envy that you seem to have already "found your voice" to start the exploration. I hesitate to begin - and yet I long to - so with no clear voice I will quickly start to collect up what I already have relevant to this journey. I'll scatter it around us and see what might be useful to bring along. Regarding maps and journeys I see the future as an unknown country, and one where we have to go, like or not. Even if...

Disability at Fantsuam

Submitted By John Dada , CEO of Fantsuam Foundation Fantsuam Foundation’s Mission is to eliminate poverty and disadvantage through integrated development programs. Its holistic approach to the problems of poverty and disadvantage is both its strength and constant source of challenge. When Fantsuam decided to beam its search lights on people with low vision, it found that there were no existing computer and internet facilities and access in the Kafanchan area. Our first efforts in 2009 were led by the VSO volunteer, Cicely Brown who tried to get special footballs for the blind, which have a bell inside . This...

glad to be here

Well hello!! Here we are, finally, meeting in the virtual world of letters. I am looking forward to seeing what might occur in our dialogue through letters. I am not sure how well I shall behave here. I am used to intersecting email monologues with commentaries, branching discussions through to finer and finer details. This has a structural fault. Two in fact. At least two that I have become aware of when I engaged my brother. We would have incredible depth and detailed discussions, but... First, we'd lose the whole view, the big picture, as we went into detail regarding...

Handwashing Day!

Handwashing and libraries were two of the subjects up for discussion during this week’s online UK-Nigeria meeting. John Dada informed us that Global Handwashing Day falls on 15th October. A Fantsuam team member was in Kaduna to discuss Fantsuam Foundation’s participation. John said: “We would like to raise awareness in the local schools on basic handwashing, but the schools have no running water, and some have no toilets. “We are thinking of installing some basic but affordable hand-washing stations in a few of the schools. It’s a small step, but in the right direction.” John explained that a good first...

Starting our David (Pinto) - Pamela open letters

Pamela McLean and David Pinto: An Exploration of the future through a mixture of fact and fiction. Hi David. It was lovely to talk with you this evening. Do let's try open letters to each other for a while. How about doing it for three months? Frequency not predefined, just as often as we have something to share with each other. Hmm... that takes up to the New Year, a perfect time to review things and decide what to do next. You'll need to sign in at http://www.dadamac.net/ and then I can give you permission to write an "open letter"...
