February First Thursday Feedback

Today's First Thursday meeting was a mixture of networking and discussing permaculture. It brought together people from Minciu Sodas, from the Video Bridge workshop and from the Dadamac Community in the UK and Nigeria. Topics mentioned included the possibility of practicing permaculture on a very small scale, the impact of permaculture, and if it was difficult to practice.

Video Bridge Community Online

The community that Franz Nahrada created through the Video Bridge Workshop continues to flourish online in various ways now we have gone our separate ways. Jakub Staniewicz , one of the Video Bridge workshop participants, made a good point about linking "communites of communities" through Video Bridges (and other online connections). I feel that this is what we are starting to do now between the Dadamac community and the Video Bridge community. Since the workshop I have: Connected with some participants and Franz on Skype (some typed, some voice, some video) Discussed at the Dadamac UK-Nigeria team meeting a possible...

Permaculture Introductions

I love to introduce people to each other, so now that I am back from the Video Bridge (Streaming Sharing and Learning) workshop I am doing introductions for people with overlapping interests related to permaculture and similar concerns. Marcus Simmons is our expert on permaculture and Wael Al Saad from the workshop has many interesting ideas which he has written about on Wiser Earth in an article called Co-Create Holistic Green Economy in global Palestine . I've phoned Marcus about Wael and had a Skype chat with Wael about Marcus, and now just need to share their email addresses. Helge...

Back from Streaming Sharing and Learning

I am back from the Video Bridge Streaming Sharing and Learning workshop in Vienna. Over the next few days I will be reflecting on what went on, looking for patterns, and seeing how things might continue in ways that are relevant (both to the Dadamac community and to me as a learner). This may result in a flurry of blogs - if it does please forgive me. At the workshop Franz did a great job of enabling the participants to become a community. The participants all represented communities of some kind. Franz ran a video bridge session, linking us with...

Farm Productivity, Permaculture and First Thursdays

Hi Vijay I am glad that you chose the article on "Pushing up Farm Productivity" to share with us. It looks as if several group interests are overlapping around the topic of food production, and eco-friendly solutions. I am very aware of approaches to food production and methods of growing things at present because Marcus Simmons is still sharing details of his recent trip to Africa. He was in Benin and Nigeria - and the main focus of his trip was permaculture. He went to Benin to learn more about permaculture as applied in West Africa, then went to share...
